Four Cylinder Bomber Rules

CALL GENE TO SEE IF THERE ARE CHANGES FOR 2003
 
1. BODIES

Any 1964 or newer American or foreign made car or pickup sold in the USA, no sports cars, vans, convertibles, or rear engine cars.

All glass and interiors must be removed.

No boxing in of driver's compartment allowed.

Removable steering wheel mandatory, no tilt column allowed.

Dash may be removed and replaced with sheet metal.

Plastic and metal grills must be removed and can be released with screen or sheet metal.

2. TIRES AND SUSPENSION

DOT approved tires, 8" max tire tread width, 8" wheel max. Can be either 13" or 14" tires.

Racing tires allowed P215 6O.D. 13 American Racer

1" lug nuts must be on both sides.

All shocks must be mounted in stock location, no coil over, air, double or overload shocks.

No sub frames allowed also no altering of frame. Frame rails can be reinforced. No removing of floor pan, no off setting.

3. SAFETY

Snell 95 approved helmet, fire suit, neck collar, gloves, head sock or helmet skirt mandatory. Must wear racing shoes or leather shoes.

ROLL CAGE Minimum of 1 1/2" OD tubing 0.95 min, no square tubing in main cage loop behind driver, one horizontal bar on passenger side, three bars on drivers side door with 10-gauge plate covering bars. Safety post on driver's side corner mandatory.

Bumpers must be securely fastened and must have chain or hooks for wrecker hook up.

Bumpers can be reinforced from behind.

Rub rail allowed 1" square tubing with tapered ends and capped off. No sharp edges.

No stock gas tanks allowed. Fuel cells mandatory. Must have chain connected to fuel cell cap. If fuel line runs through drivers compartment, must be in metal tubing. Electric fuel pumps must have oil pressure regulator switch, fuel shut off optional.

Grate or screen in front of driver's window. No glass allowed.

Racing seats mandatory. Must be secured to floor and roll cage.

Standard 5 point racing seat belts only. Must not be over 2 years old. Crotch strap mandatory.

Window nets mandatory. Must be securely fastened, seat belt type latch on top corner. NO ZIP TIES.

No metal screws allowed in car. Sheet metal screws or self-taping. Pop rivets only.

4. BATTERY

Must be securely fastened. If in trunk or under hood an open box is allowed. If behind, drivers seat must be in a metal box and securely fastened. No plastic battery boxes allowed. Can not be in driver's compartment.

5. MOTORS/TRANSMISSIONS/REARENDS

No rotary motors allowed. Fuel injection and turbo allowed.

Any other 4 cyl. motor allowed not to exceed 2500cc, must have stock bottom. No boring or doom pistons. Motor must match make of car. (i.e., Ford chassis, Ford body, Ford motor.)

Headers allowed.

Stock intake manifold and no redrilling of bolt holes for carb or head.

Stock carburetor only. All carbs must be able to be purchased at parts stores. NO ALCOHOL or NOS allowed.

No interchanging of parts from 6 cly. or v-8 to 4 cyl. allowed.

3, 4, 5 speed transmission, automatic Trans allowed only from manufacture. No powerglides.

Stock clutch pressure plates only. No aluminum fly wheels, no Tilton clutches.

1/4" by 3" wide scatter shield required over bell housing if aluminum bell housing is used.

Locked rearends allowed.

6. CLAIM RULE

$425.00 claim rule. $25.00 to wrecker driver. $400.00 to owner.

If less than 10 cars compete in feature, #4 and #5 can claim top 3 cars.

If more than 10 cars compete in feature, #4 - #10 can claim top 3 cars.

Engine claimed must match make of car that drivers are claiming. FORD to FORD.

To avoid a grudge claim, claim will be determined by track owner. Track owner may claim any motor in feature.

Owner keeps carb, clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, motor mounts, starter, and cooling fan. Also alternator if so equipped.

7. CHAMPIONSHIP RACES

Any driver wanting to compete in a championship race must be registered for points on day of race. Driver also has to run two consecutive weeks before any championship race.

TRACK OWNER OR OFFICIALS HAVE FINAL SAY ON ANY RULES POSTED.
